Tapolsky & VovKING – Kaiman / Hyperid (OUT NOW)

Beware of the Yacare Kaiman! Ukrainian hot topic Tapolsky & VovKING are back on Mainframe with a hard-hitting double set of dancefloor bangers.
Having become a staple in Ukraine’s EDM landscape over the past years, the duo has recently shifted its focus purely to Drum & Bass and entered the international scene with releases on high profile labels such as ProgRAM and Technique rightaway. Being known for their uniquely crisp sound, next-level production and a vanguardist approach to rather liquid sounds, Tapolsky & VovKING’s forthcoming single on Mainframe Recordings is definitely their roughest take on the genre so far.

Its massive intro makes “Kaiman” a perfect set opener. Enter the swamp and witness that mean little bastard sneaking up on its prey, cold blooded and ready to strike. The drop hits just as ferocious, twisted and attacky all over the place. With a glitched-out percussive lead theme driven by whiplash snare hits, this one is going to take the crowds with ease.

“Hyperid” on the flip side drags you in with a tribalist percussion loop, building up in tension to burst off as a wicked chimera between Jump Up and Neurofunk that will get the heads spazzing out wild.

DubApe – Unstoppable EP (OUT NOW)

Can’t stop the DubApe! Once a devotee to the broken beats at around 140 BPM, and enjoying prominent support from J:Kenzo, N-Type and Truth, the Austrian studio wizard has meanwhile fully dedicated himself to the techy side of Drum & Bass and is known for reconciling musical versatility with a distinct signature sound, characterized by decently sculpted soundscapes, powerhouse bass lines and crispy drums.
Enjoy some serious rinse-out on the opening track, “Delirium”, when DubApe’s dystopian signature rave sound is doing proper damage as it is known and loved for. On “Why”, DubApe is creating a dope atmosphere with nothing more than an enigmatic vocal sample, some squelchy bass sounds and sparsely set but still tremendously rolling beats. All minimal and stripped down to the bone, “Why” is a subtle banger for the sophisticated.
“One Year” is coming in just as deep, sparking an ambiguous vibe of stone cold funk and industrial soul. With a wildly disassembled vocal bending itself around swaying half-time beats, its wicked shuffle will put spines to the test – true neck snapper!
For the closing track, DubApe is teaming up with vocalist Patch Edison, who delivers both a soulfully sung Hook over catchy piano chords as well as bullet proof rap lines when the drop hits. “Unstoppable” is a deep Neurofunk infused roller, enriched with a nice pinch of anthemic pop appeal.
